Das Past Perfect

Du verwendest das Past Perfect um auszudrücken, dass etwas vor anderen Ereignissen in der Vergangenheit passiert ist.

BILDUNG:

I / you / he / she / it / we / they + had + 3. Form

Die 3. Form ist das so-genannte Past Participle des Verbes.

Das Past Participle regelmäßiger Verben bildest du mit der Endung -ed:

Wann verwendest du das Past Perfect?

Du verwendest das Past Perfect mit folgenden Signalwörtern:

  1. AFTER / BEFORE
    He had had his breakfast BEFORE he packed his school bag.
    AFTER he had had his breakfast, he packed his school bag.
  2. SINCE / FOR
    When I met them, they had lived in Italy FOR 10 years.
    When I met them, they had lived in Italy SINCE 2008.

  3. WHEN, AS SOON AS, UNTIL
    She went to the USA AS SOON AS she had finished university.

Wie bildest du Fragen im Past Perfect?

Es gibt zwei Arten von Fragen: die "einfachen" Fragen die mit "ja" oder "nein" beantwortet werden, oder "offene" Fragen mit den Wörtern: what (was), who (wer), when (wann), where (wo), why (warum), und how (wie) beginnen.

"JA" oder "NEIN" Fragen

Had I read the book before I saw the film?
Had you read the book before you saw the film?
Had he read the book before he saw the film?
Had we read the book before we saw the film?
Had you read the book before you saw the film?
Had they read the book before they saw the film?

Kurze Antworten

Yes, I had. No, I hadn't.
Yes, you had. No, you hadn't.
Yes, he had. No, he hadn't.
Yes, we had. No, we hadn't.
Yes, you had. No, you hadn't.
Yes, they had. No, they hadn't.

Auf Englisch ist es unhöflich nur "yes" oder "no" zu sagen. Du musst immer "Yes, I had" oder "No, I hadn't" sagen.

Verneinungen im Past Perfect werden mit dem Wort "not" gebildet.

I had not walked the dog.
You had not walked the dog.
He had not walked the dog.
We had not walked the dog.

They had not walked the dog.

Beim Sprechen verwenden wir so-genannte Abkürzungen weil wir schnell sprechen möchten:
"not" wird zu "n't".

I hadn't walked the dog before I went to school.
You hadn't walked the dog before you went to school.
He hadn't walked the dog before he went to school.
We hadn't walked the dog before we went to school.
You hadn't walked the dog before you went to school.
They hadn't walked the dog before they went to school.
